This photo doesn’t need any commentary at all. In fact, all it needs is admiration. Take a deep breath and appreciate the unparalleled beauty of our island. It’s inescapable!
Architect by trade, Dexter Fassale is one of the new crop of St. Lucian photographers who find magic in this Helen of the West. While not a professional photographer, Dexter gives his creative side expression with shots that capture the beauty of every day Saint Lucian life. Ray Hardy may not have been born here in St. Lucia, but over the years he has made his home here in the Helen of the West. And Saint Lucia is lucky to have him, as he is one of the best wedding photographers on the island. Scratch that – he is one of the best photographers period. He is best known, however, for capturing creative, quirky shots which always bring out the personality of his subject, and he will go to any length to get the right shot, as this photo proves! Saint Lucia is full of both great old buildings and super talented photographers. Today’s photo of the day is the intersection of local ‘architecture’ and local fine art photography. Daniel Marcion is the creative genius behind Belle Portwe, a local photography studio that has gained a solid reputation for creative and professional work. You can purchase prints of Daniel’s work at his online gallery. Go say hi to him on Facebook and tell him Island Scene sent you!
Stand back! Luckily this menacing-looking guy is all attitude, at least according to photographer Ted Sandiford of A.C.I.D Kreationz. He is widely known across the island as the creator of popular animated characters Cocoa Boy and Girard. Alumni of SALCC circa ’97 – ’99, however, might remember his earlier work, which was circulated among Divisions on crumpled file sheets. Looks like Mr. A.C.I.D has a bit of skill with the camera to go along with other talents. Don’t forget to drop by his Facebook page to check out the rest of his work!
In light of the recent 34th anniversary of Saint Lucia’s Independence, I thought it was only fitting that the first Photo of the Day was this gorgeous shot of Fiona Compton, Saint Lucian photographer and (incidentally), daughter of our longest serving Prime Minister.
