Saint Lucia’s 2013 Independence Games, organised by the Vieux Fort Council for Youth & Sports, takes a breather today. Qualifiers resume on Saturday and continue through Sunday. It’s a great opportunity to take the family out to watch some sports!

The qualifying rounds of the 2013 Independence Games continue today with two events. Each starts at 6 pm TODAY. Registration costs $5 per player and can be done before the qualifiers begin.
- Vieux Fort MultiPurpose Court: 5-A-Side 4-on-4 Netball Tournament (1st qualifier)
- Laborie MultiPurpose Court, 5-A-Side 4-on-4 Football Tournament (2nd qualifier)

This morning, Caribbean News Now reports that the charity foundation of Reading striker Jason Roberts has teamed up with local sporting organisation Sacred Sports Foundation to collaborate on several sport development initiatives. Chairman of Sacred Sports Foundation Delroy Alexander says:
“The Jason Roberts Foundation has been a leader in sports development programmes and working with the Diaspora in the UK to help develop Caribbean youth. This is a natural alliance for us and comes in a year when we will be making several gains, including the launch of Sport in Black & White our first annual international sports conference and youth forum taking place in Saint Lucia June 10-23.”
