Ray Hardy may not have been born here in St. Lucia, but over the years he has made his home here in the Helen of the West. And Saint Lucia is lucky to have him, as he is one of the best wedding photographers on the island. Scratch that – he is one of the best photographers period. He is best known, however, for capturing creative, quirky shots which always bring out the personality of his subject, and he will go to any length to get the right shot, as this photo proves! Check out his commercial site at Karay Media Productions, where he can help you with wedding planning from start to finish. Tell him Island Scene 758 sent you!

Saint Lucia poetry lovers, Thursday night is your night! This very evening TWO poetry events are vying for our attention – it’s the Grand Slam of Poetry in St. Lucia tonight!
Each and every Thursday, K’s Lounge on Jeremie Street Castries plays host to Pomn Damou Kreations‘ Poetry Slam. The slam is free to patrons while poets pay $5 to enter, and everything gets going at 8 p.m.
And at 7:30 pm on the last Thursday of (mostly) every month, Headphunk hosts its monthly Open Mic Poetry night. This month’s event is titled Headphunk – Untamed, and this time the mic is closed – it’s a competition for the best interpretation of “Independence”. Up for grabs is a Galaxy Tab, so you know the competition will be fierce. Headphunk Untamed takes place on the side lawn of Samaans Park, Choc. Unfortunately entries are already closed, but there will be much entertainment to be had in supporting great Saint Lucian poetry. Island Scene 758 will see y’all there!
We all know that frying makes everything taste better, and there are few things as delicious as an order of piping hot fish and chips wrapped up in a sheet of newspaper – call that George. Even more delicious is the price – only $24 (Hope that’s including VAT!) at Starfish Deli in the Rodney Bay Marina. To top it off, if you get there early, you can either race J24s around the Marina, or watch and laugh at the folks who do. Follow Starfish on Facebook to stay up to date. We’re certainly ready to decimate their malt vinegar supply, are you?
The qualifying rounds of the 2013 Independence Games continue today with two events. Each starts at 6 pm TODAY. Registration costs $5 per player and can be done before the qualifiers begin.
- Vieux Fort MultiPurpose Court: 5-A-Side 4-on-4 Netball Tournament (1st qualifier)
- Laborie MultiPurpose Court, 5-A-Side 4-on-4 Football Tournament (2nd qualifier)
Best of luck to all participants!
